Captain Abdul Halim Chowdhury

Capt. Abdul Halim Chowdhury is an immortal child of Manikganj district. He was born on February 1, 1920 in Elachipur village under Shiblaya police station. His father Abdul Matin Chowdhury, mother Hasina Chowdhury. He studied at Maluchi High School from his grandfather's house in Ghonapara village of Arua Union. Later, he joined the army in the 8th, while studying in the undergraduate class at Dhaka University. He was a skilled military officer. He was the Adjutant and Quarter Master in the 8th Punjab Regiment at 8-12, the ADC of the Fourteenth Division's GOC and subsequently the Commanding Officer of the East Pakistan U-TC Battalion. He voluntarily retired from the army as a Captain in 2002 due to physical illness. He was elected a member of parliament in the general election in April 3 and was appointed minister of the government of Bangladesh on April 7. Lastly, he served as the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. The war of liberation made him widely known. On the night of the 28th, when the War of Independence started, a seven-member command council was formed in the district of Manikganj with the independent powers of independence. Captain Halim Chowdhury was given the lead. He was infinitely brave. During the war, he served as the area commander in Dhaka Sadar and Gazipur, consisting of 22 police stations.
